Monitoring Tools for Carbon Capture and Storage Projects
Some carbon capture and storage (CCS) sites may require carbon dioxide monitoring in surface air and soil gas at various project stages. Collection of data prior to carbon dioxide injection is essential for establishing a baseline. DBS&A staff visited LI-COR Environmental in Lincoln, Nebraska for training on the installation and use of their eddy covariance towers for carbon dioxide surface air monitoring and soil flux chambers for soil gas monitoring. The underlying technology and software will help to automate data collection and analysis for more efficient carbon sequestration project delivery.
