Groundwater Sustainability Plans Approved

DBS&A congratulates the Fillmore and Piru subbasins in Ventura County on the California Department of Water Resources (DWR)’s approval of their Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs). As prime consultant, DBS&A worked closely with the Fillmore and Piru Groundwater Sustainability Agency (FPBGSA) and team member Stillwater Sciences (SWS), as well as staff from United Water Conservation District (UWCD), to revise the GSPs previously deemed incomplete into forms acceptable to the DWR.

The DWR afforded the GSA 180 days to revise both of the GSPs, which required multiple consultations with DWR, stakeholder outreach, board of director discussions, and expedited technical analyses by the consultant team. The revised GSPs provide the FPBGSA with a solid foundation to continue its efforts to ensure the groundwater resources remain sustainable.

Major contributors include DBS&A Principal Hydrogeologist Tony Morgan, PG, CHG and Project Hydrogeologist Gus Tolley, PhD, PG, and SWS Principal/Senior Ecologist Bruce Orr and Fluvial Geomorphologist Christian Braudrick, who are all now assisting the FPBGSA in crafting GSP implementation programs for both basins.
