DBS&A is seeking a qualified and motivated staff person to join our diverse technical team to work in our northern New Mexico project office.

DBS&A is a water resources, engineering, and environmental consulting firm providing comprehensive services in groundwater and surface water hydrology and soil science. In this position, you will work hand-in-hand with a range of professionals with backgrounds in hydrology and geology, soil and environmental science, civil and environmental engineering, geographic information system (GIS) and computer aided design (CAD), and field and laboratory technology. As a subsidiary of Geo-Logic Associates (GLA), you will have access to 300 diverse professionals and 29 offices in the U.S. and Peru. WHY WE WANT YOU IN THIS POSITION
- You want to put your bachelor’s degree in hydrology, geology, or closely related field to work in the field of water resources development and environmental services.
- You are knowledgeable about environmental sampling and monitoring protocols, and are looking to expand on your two or more years of professional experience that includes data collection and documentation related to field activities such as drilling and well construction oversight, site investigation (soil and groundwater), sampling of surface water, groundwater, and stormwater.
- You are OSHA HAZWOPER certified, and have familiarity with automated water samplers and monitoring systems for applications in wells, streams, weirs, and stormwater systems.
- You have experience working with state and federal environmental laws and regulations, and with state agencies such as the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer and New Mexico Environment Department.
- You have a strong attention to detail and a demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently.
- You have the ability to work with and/or direct a team of hydrogeologists, hydrologists, engineers, GIS specialists, and biologists working on water management issues in multiple states, with extensive travel.
- You are highly effective in your written and verbal communication and are comfortable addressing technical (e.g., other hydrogeologists, engineers) or layperson audiences as an effective public speaker.
More about this opportunity on a day-to-day basis
You will work with a team of highly talented individuals on a variety of small to large water resource and environmental projects, including water supply and development projects. Typical tasks for an entry- to mid-level geologist/hydrogeologist may include:
- Collecting soil samples, water level measurements, and groundwater, surface water, and stormwater samples.
- Conducting field investigations, such as overseeing drilling activities and the design and installation of monitor wells and production wells.
- Analyzing data and preparing technical reports.
- Working on project teams with professionals who are motivated to provide high quality services to our clients.
This position may require extensive travel, including possible evenings, weekends, and holidays, and requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work in adverse weather conditions. This position also requires that the potential employee pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical. You must possess and maintain a driving record acceptable to our insurer and must be eligible to work in the United States. Position level and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
